What and long strange year its been…….

Whoa……well that was an interesting year to say the least!  This year started out with a bang. We then had to deal with COVID-19 and the resulting economic slowdown and paralysis.  We recovered some in the summer and then we had another surge.  We had an election. Then we got better and had another surge in the fall….  We have all had whiplash from the ups and downs of this year!

We are all learning to adapt to a “new normal” and are finding ways to navigate our lives.  With all of this going on in our country – and our world – we have been focused on keeping you informed about what has been going on in the financial markets.  Information is moving a mile a minute and it all has an effect on your financial goals, both present and future.

Businesses from coast to coast, large and small, have experienced a certain degree of economic stress due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Companies have laid off people, put workers on furlough and some have had to shut down completely.  Corporations that have been able to weather the storm are cutting dividends and payouts to shareholders – all in an effort to survive.  We are mindful that the cumulative effect of these actions has had a ripple effect throughout our communities.

Well, what does this mean for you?  First, it is really important to get a handle on your financial and investment plan. “The plan can work, if you work the plan.” In other words, if you stick with the plan that we have developed with you and for you, then you have a favorable chance to realize the rewards of your plan – either with income from your portfolio, growth of your portfolio or both. It also means that we can update, revise and shift direction, if need be.  As your family or financial situations change, please feel free to reach out. This will allow us to better help you as your personal situation changes.

No one knows what the future will hold – both during this pandemic and with the stock market.  What we can do is to make sure that we have planned properly for the future and deal with things promptly and effectively, as they come up in the moment.

We are hoping that with the recent rollout and availability of the COVID-19 vaccine, and the election in the rearview mirror, our country can get back to “normal”, albeit with a different look!

As always, please feel free to reach out with questions or comments.  Remember, “Stay Positive and Test Negative!”

Wishing you and your family a happy holiday and a happy new year!!
